Our sugar beets are grown on Dutch soil. Sugar beet is actually the sugar factory. During the growing season, a combination of sunlight and water forms the sugar and stores it in the beet plant. During the beet campaign in the autumn, the sugar beets are harvested. The granulated sugar is extracted from the beet at the factories in Groningen and Dinteloord. The chain from beet to sugar is efficient and sustainable.
